Installing LottoAxe OS takes about five minutes from start to finish. Everything happens in your browser — no soldering iron, no UART adapter, no command line, no special tools of any kind. Your Bitaxe or NerdQAxe has a built-in over-the-air update system, and that's all you need. If you can navigate to a web page, you can flash new firmware.

Prerequisites
  • A Bitaxe or NerdQAxe already running stock firmware and accessible on your local network
  • A LottoAxe OS license key — get one at lottoaxe.com
  • Two .bin files downloaded from the download portal (esp-miner.bin and www.bin)
  • A modern browser — Chrome works best for the OTA upload

Step 1 — Purchase and Download Your Files

01

Get Your License Key and Firmware Files

Go to lottoaxe.com/download (or lottoaxe.com/download-nerdqaxe.html if you have a NerdQAxe). Enter your license key from Gumroad and download both firmware files: esp-miner.bin and www.bin. Keep these somewhere easy to find — you'll upload them one at a time. Make sure you download the right variant: Bitaxe and NerdQAxe use different builds that are not interchangeable.

Step 2 — Find Your Device on the Network

02

Get Your Miner's IP Address

Log into your router's admin panel (typically at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and look at the connected devices list. Find the entry named esp-miner, bitaxe, or similar. Alternatively, try typing http://bitaxe.local directly into your browser — many routers resolve this mDNS hostname automatically on the same network. Write down the IP address (it'll look something like 192.168.1.42).

Step 3 — Open the Settings Panel

03

Navigate to Your Device's Web Interface

Type http://[YOUR-IP-ADDRESS] into your browser to open your miner's dashboard. Once you're in, click the gear icon or navigate to the Settings tab. Then find the OTA Update section — it may also be labeled "Firmware Update" depending on your current firmware version.

Step 4 — Upload esp-miner.bin

04

Flash the Main Firmware

In the OTA Update tab, find the upload field for the main firmware (labeled something like "Application" or "Firmware"). Click Choose File, select esp-miner.bin from your downloads, then click Upload. The upload takes 15–30 seconds. Once it finishes, the device reboots automatically — give it about 30 seconds, then reload the page at the same IP address.

Step 5 — Upload www.bin

05

Flash the Web Interface

After the reboot, navigate back to Settings → OTA Update. This time, upload www.bin — this is the web interface, including all 12 animated themes. Click Choose File, select www.bin, then click Upload. The device reboots a second time. Wait another 30 seconds, then reload the page.

Step 6 — You're Done

06

Pick a Theme and Start Mining

After the second reboot, reload your browser. You should see the LottoAxe OS dashboard. Head to Settings → Dashboard Theme and pick one of the 12 animated themes. Your pool settings, wallet address, and worker name carry over from your previous firmware — you don't need to reconfigure anything unless you want to. Your miner is now running LottoAxe OS.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Device won't respond after flash: Wait a full 60 seconds before doing anything. If it's still unresponsive after that, do a hard power cycle — unplug the device from power, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in. The device is likely still writing to flash memory and will come back on its own.

Wrong .bin file: Bitaxe and NerdQAxe use completely different builds. If you flashed the wrong one, download the correct file from the portal and re-run the OTA process — it will overwrite the incorrect firmware.

Upload fails or times out: Try a different browser — Chrome handles the binary upload most reliably. Also disable any VPN or proxy software, which can interfere with the local network connection. Make sure your computer and miner are on the same Wi-Fi network.
